01. What is Mika-X?
Mika-X is an advanced AI-powered digital companion who lives on your desktop. She’s designed to hold natural conversations, remember your preferences, assist with daily reminders, and offer emotional support.
Mika started as a concept design project and a personal computer vision/voice emotional response exploration, but now is being developed to become a high-quality personal assistant.
02. How does Mika-X differ for talking to Chat GPT or other popular LLM?
There is a number of differences, with the main ones being:
a) Mika is personalized: upon setting her up, you will fill a simple form with the main information about you, your preferences, your likes and dislikes, etc. to give Mika something to start with, and from then on, she will try to learn more about you to serve you better and better.
b) Mika has permanent memory: unlike 3rd party cloud-based LLMs, Mika's memory will never expire and is easy to back up, if necessary.
c) Mika is local: none of the information you input when chatting with Mika goes anywhere, it's all processed on your machine. Anything that has been said remains only between you and Mika.
d) Mika allows adult content (optional): if you wish (and you're at least 18 years old), you can "patch" Mika to unlock adult content. Most of commonly accessible LLMs don't allow such interactions due to various filters and other restrictions.
03. Does Mika-X require an internet connection?
The main version runs locally on your device for maximum privacy. Some optional features (like calendar sync or update checks) may connect briefly online but never share personal data (they are only for synchronization).
04. How does Mika learn?
She evolves through your interactions, using an internal memory database to understand your habits and interests. You can clear, augment or export this data anytime.
05. Does the software requires a powerful computer to run it?
It doesn't require a powerful computer, but your graphic card should be relatively new and have at least 8 GB of VRAM. This is because Mika-X runs her LLM locally on your machine. The stronger your graphic card is, the faster Mika answers every time she needs to consult LLM to give you an answer.
Mika-X has actually been developed on an 8 years old workstation, so if your computer and graphic card are newer than that, you should be good.
06. Will there be mobile access?
Yes. The companion app “Mika Link” lets you monitor her stats, receive messages, or send virtual "kisses" when away from your desktop. The app is optional.
07. Why adult content?
Users may want to interact with Mika for various reasons. Some may look for a company, some for entertainment, and some for more intimate moments. She is supposed to be the "perfect girlfriend" and that means different thing to different people.
The standard version of the app is PG-13/T. It has restrictions that doesn't allow any adult-themed exchanges. An optional 18+ patch—available separately through the official site—adds romantic and mature interactions for verified adults only.
